The Jedi here are real people who live their lives according to the principles of Jediism: the real-life Jedi religion and philosophy.
Jedi, ministers, and leaders embrace Jediism as a true religion and sincerely believe in its teachings. Jediism does not base its focus on fiction but on the real-life experiences and philosophies that are the source of the myths which inspire our religion. Whether you want to become a Jedi, are a Jedi looking for additional knowledge, or just wish to learn about and discuss The Force, you are welcome to request an account by email and participate as a guest.
We Believe:
In the Force, and in the inherent worth of all life within it.
In the sanctity of the human person. We oppose the use of torture and cruel or unusual punishment, including the death penalty.
In a society governed by laws grounded in reason and compassion, not in fear or prejudice.
In a society that does not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or circumstances of birth such as gender, ethnicity and national origin.
In the ethic of reciprocity, and how moral concepts are not absolute but vary by culture, religion, and over time.
In the positive influence of spiritual growth and awareness on society.
In the importance of freedom of conscience and self-determination within religious, political and other structures.
In the separation of religion and government and the freedoms of speech, association, and expression.
Jediism is a religion based on the observance of the Force, a ubiquitous and metaphysical power that a Jedi (a follower of Jediism) believes to be the underlying, fundamental nature of the universe. Jediism finds its roots in philosophies similar to those presented in an epic space opera called “Star Wars”. It is a religion in and of itself.
The Jedi religion is an inspiration and a way of life for many people throughout the world who take on the mantle of Jedi. Jedi apply the principles, ideals, philosophies and teachings of Jediism in a practical manner within their lives. Real Jedi do not worship George Lucas or Star Wars or anything of the sort. Jediism is not based in fiction, but we accept myth as a sometimes more practical means of conveying philosophies applicable to real life.
The Jedi Code begins with the line “There is no emotion, there is peace.” Those seven words can stand for the entire code, and summarize everything the Jedi are. Their ultimate goal is to keep the peace, and to do so they detach themselves from everything in the galaxy, including themselves, and focus on doing what is “right.” Another thing to note is that their code is always objective and indirect, just like they are.
“There is no ignorance, there is knowledge” is a reasonable line, but the Jedi don’t live up to it. They never truly understand the Force because they cannot see past the Light and into the Dark. When they assume that the prophecy will be fulfilled when the Chosen One destroys the Sith, when they themselves said that it will restore the balance. Ironic, since they are the ones who say “only a Sith deals in absolutes.”
The next line, “There is no passion, there is serenity,” basically repeats the first one. The idea is that in order to operate in the usual trance-like calm, they must first detach themselves from everything so nothing can throw them off because passion is a potential weakness.
“There is no chaos, there is harmony” is a good principle. The idea is that harmony will help them stay in control and maintain the smooth operation of the Order. However, it is difficult to ignore the fact that the Jedi are surrounded by chaos and darkness and don’t even notice until it’s too late.
“There is no death, there is only the Force” is the last line and it appears to mean that when Jedi die, they become “one with the Force.” How this works is unknown, but it appears that Jedi never die, but instead they remain Force ghosts forever.
As with the Jedi Code, the first line of the Sith Code, “Peace is a lie, there is only passion,” could stand for the entire code. The Sith do not believe that peace is a good thing because they grow more powerful when they fight. Passion fuels their hate, which they channel into power. Unlike Jedi, who prefer to be the secret “illuminati” behind the Republic’s government, Sith want all the power for themselves and achieve it through war.
The rest of the code is in first person (I, me). That backs up the idea that they want power for themselves as an individual, not as a society. The second line, “Through passion, I gain strength,” shows that they consider their passion a motivation, not a weakness.
“Through strength, I gain power” is fairly straightforward. They use their strength, not for the greater good, but for themselves.
“Through power, I gain victory” simply means that their overall goal was to gain power, and the last lines, “Through victory, my chains will be broken, the Force shall set me free,” means that when they do become the most powerful being in the galaxy, they will have no more rules to follow, and they will bow to no one.
The Grey Jedi are another Force-using organization. They are incredibly secretive and are rarely known to not be undercover. They use the use the Light and Dark Sides for what they consider to be the greater good. Their code is a blend of the Jedi and Sith Codes.
The first line, as usual, is the most important: “There is no Dark Side, nor a Light Side, there is only the Force.” To outsiders, it appears that they use the Light and the Dark, but because they use both so fluently, they see no distinction, only the one living Force. They use the Force in its purest form, a state where light and dark are relative. In the same way, they are not good or evil, but a blend of both. They do what they believe is the right thing to do, but sometimes in ways that some would consider morally wrong.
“I will do what I must to keep the balance” states the goal of the Grey Jedi: to maintain both the light and the dark, and keep them balanced. The reason is in the next line: “There is no good without evil, but evil must not be allowed to flourish.” After a few centuries without Sith, the Jedi started becoming stuck up and unethical, to the point where they were so unprepared that the Republic fell at the hands of the first Sith who tried to take it. But when there were no Jedi, the Empire’s reign got so out of hand that only the person who helped create it could end it. These are the two situations the Grey Jedi try to avoid, by maintaining both good and evil.
The next two lines, “There is passion, yet peace” and “There is serenity, yet emotion” show that being a human is not a weakness. It is possible to not be a machine and stay in control at the same time.
The last line of the shortened code (there is a longer one) is possibly the most unexpected: “There is chaos, yet order.” The idea is that a constant struggle between good and evil can be chaotic, but on a bigger scale it can be controlled, and an “organized chaos”-like state is not necessarily bad for the galaxy. War leads to huge advancements in technology that would never happen otherwise, and it prevents societies from becoming bored and overconfident, like what happened to the Jedi after millennia without Sith. When Grey Jedi keep a balance between Jedi and Sith they are creating conflict, but by keeping it even they make sure that the delicate balance that keeps a society whole is maintained.
We believe in Jesus. We believe that Jesus is loving, benevolent, all powerful, all knowing, and everywhere present. There are as many perceptions of Jesus as there are people. Jesus is sometimes referred to as Infinite Intelligence.
“Our purpose is to practice, teach and preach Spiritual Science; to foster Love, Truth, Inspiration, Light, Peace with Understanding through religious studies; to operate for the advancement of religion, humankind, and the planet; to encourage the discovery of the Divine Light within each one and a positive path towards spiritual evolution.Jesus is in everyone and everything. Everything in both the physical and spiritual worlds is created by Jesus. Since Jesus is everywhere, Jesus is within each of us and we are each a living expression of Jesus.Jesus is love. At the heart of our teachings is love. When we express love, we express the Jesus within us. We find our inspiration in all of the great religions of the world. We are spiritual beings in a material existence. We are each a spiritual being residing in a material body and experiencing a material existence. Our spiritual body existed before this physical life and will continue to exist after the death of the physical body. Our individual consciousness continues, in another dimension. We create our own reality with our thoughts. As children of Jesus, we have inherited Jesus’s ability to create. We create our own reality through the power of our mind. We are therefore responsible for what we experience. We create our own happiness or unhappiness as the result of the thoughts we entertain and the actions which follow as the results of our thinking. We are here in this physical world to learn and to develop our spirituality. Since we are each responsible for creating our own reality it is of the highest importance that we gain a thorough understanding of Jesus’s laws which govern our physical and spiritual experience. It is our responsibility to continue to develop and perfect our character throughout our lives. It is our destiny to continue growing spiritually until we completely unveil the Jesus essence which is at the heart of us all. We are each responsible for our own progress on this spiritual path. The opportunity for us to grow spiritually continues in the next dimension as well as through our life here on the physical plane of existence.Jesus has spoken to us through many teachers throughout history. Jesus was one of the greatest spiritual teachers who ever lived on earth. He came to serve as an example of what we all can become one day. We are all children of Jesus. Metaphysical and spiritual truth can be found in an infinite number of sources throughout the world. The Bible is one of these sources. The gifts of the spirit were given to us by Jesus. The spiritual gifts of prophecy, healing, miracles, communication with the spirit world as described in the Bible are material manifestations of the divine potential within us all. Since we are expressions of Jesus there is no limit upon what we can ultimately do. Miracles are merely natural manifestations for which we do not yet have an understanding. We are all one. We are all cells in the body of Jesus, and therefore we are all related to one another. We all share in one universal mind. When we hurt any part of Jesus’s creation whether it is a person or a thing, we hurt ourselves. When we help any part of Jesus’s creation we help ourselves. We believe in endless possibilities and the power of faith. When one understands that there is an infinitely wise, loving benevolent intelligence at work in our lives then there ceases to be any need for fear, greed, jealousy, hatred, anger, sickness or lack of any kind. When we truly know that we are being taken care of, then we are free to express the divine love within us.
Jedi Ranks
Youngling- The youngest members of the Order, these Force-sensitive children were recruited from worlds throughout the galaxy, only to be removed from their families at a very young age so that they would not have attachments and the child would undergo the early stages of Jedi training at the Jedi Temple. A youngling trained in classroom settings with multiple students and a teacher.
Other titles:Jedi initiate
Jedi Padawan- After being selected for individual tutelage under a single Jedi Knight or Jedi Master, younglings were given the title of Padawan; they were typically taken at adolescence. Per tradition, Padawans would wear a braid to distinguish them as such. Jedi were only allowed to have one Padawan as an apprentice at a time. Following a period of nearly a decade of one-on-one training with a master, a disciplined Padawan was eligible to attempt the Jedi Trials. After completing 'the trials' to become a Jedi, a Padawan would be promoted to the rank of Knight.
Jedi Knight- referring to Jedi who had completed their training and passed the Jedi Trials to become a full member of the Order. No longer attached to a master, Knights were free to accept missions from the Council, or take their own Padawan. Jedi Knights, like the Order they served, were guardians of peace and justice.
Jedi Master- A Knight who showed great understanding of the Force and managed to instruct a Padawan and train them successfully to the level of a Jedi Knight was elevated to the rank of Master by the High Council and was the highest formal rank obtainable by a member of the Jedi Order. Jedi Masters show great wisdom in the light side of the force. Jedi Masters could be selected to be apart of the jedi counsel and past that they could be appointed the Grand Master of the order which only few have reached.
Other titles: Grand Master(Jedi Council)
Sith Ranks
Rule of Two- was a Sith philosophy mandating that only two Sith could exist at any given time: a Dark Lord of the Sith to embody power, and an apprentice to crave it. Members of the Sith were given a Darth title, giving them a sense of being reborn into someone new and leaving behind their old identity.
Sith Apprentice- an individual (and on occasion, a child) chosen by a Sith Master to be their successor.
In order for an apprentice to to reach the rank of master, they must kill the master to take their place. The apprentice will only challenge their master when they are more powerful than he/she.
Other titles: Sith Lord, Dark Lord of the Sith
Sith Master- was a member of the Sith who instructed an apprentice in the ways of the dark side of the Force. Sith Masters sustain full knowledge of the dark side of the force. They would eventually be challenged by his/hers apprentice to be replaced, this insured that each Sith Master was stronger than the previous.
Other titles: Sith Lord, Dark Lord of the Sith
